Trey Wilson is the founder and principal of R L WILSON LAW FIRM SAN ANTONIO REAL ESTATE LAWYERS. Trey is a San Antonio native and a graduate of Central Catholic High School. We holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio.
As the son of a career U.S. Army soldier, Trey Wilson grew-up with a strong sense of discipline, duty and accountability that permeates the firm’s work ethic today. Although he chose the allure of UT over that of the uniform, Wilson is a staunch patriot, and shares his family legacy of safeguarding personal liberties and private property rights.
During his last year at UT, Wilson worked for the Texas State Senate. Later, he worked for the Texas House of Representatives, serving as a legislative assistant to Rep. Ruth Jones-McClendon during the 75th legislative session (1997). This experience provided first-hand observation of the process through which Texas laws are adopted, the competing perspectives of citizens and stakeholders, and the importance of compromise in making representative government effective. Trey Wilson’s legislative service and law school graduation were recognized by the Texas House through H.R. 905 adopted on May 13, 1997.
In November 1997, Trey Wilson was admitted by the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law in Texas state courts. In 1998, he was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in 2010. Over the course of twenty three years as a practicing attorney, Trey Wilson has earned a reputation for providing the finest full-service representation to all manner of clients, including real estate brokers, entrepreneurs, physicians, attorneys, investors, ranchers, financial institutions, senior corporate executives, water utilities, governmental agencies, corporations, small businesses, community associations and individuals.
Wilson routinely prosecutes and defends a diverse selection of cases throughout the State of Texas and before administrative agencies. At last count, Trey Wilson had handled client matters in 58 Texas Counties; Maricopa County, Arizona; Staten Island, New York; and federal courts in San Antonio, Houston, Laredo and Austin.
Over the past decade, Wilson has been repeatedly named by Scene in SA Magazine as one of San Antonio’s “Best” Attorneys for Real Estate Litigation, Real Estate Transactions and Environmental Litigation. This distinction is based upon peer review and ballots cast by experienced local attorneys.
In 2008, the Texas Real Estate Commission licensed Wilson as a real estate salesperson. He is an active member of the Texas Association of Realtors and San Antonio Board of Realtors. In 2017, Wilson was named to the Texas Realtors Professional Standards Committee, and R L WILSON LAW FIRM was named 2017 “Affiliate of the Year” by the San Antonio Metropolitan Area Chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers.
Wilson has written numerous articles, and regularly speaks on issues related to real estate law. He is a member of various professional groups and trade associations, is a Life Member of the Texas Exes, and a member of Community Bible Church.
As a 4th generation Texan (on both sides), Wilson maintains a voracious appetite for Texas history, and Longhorn sports. He is an avid reader, writer, saltwater fisherman, gardener and competition BBQ cooker.
Christopher L. Sabala is driven by hard work and accountability instilled by his parents, a Registered Nurse and 22-year U.S. Navy veteran. His upbringing was rooted in putting others first and holding himself to a high degree of integrity.
Chris was born in Western Nebraska and was the first in his family to obtain a college degree. He received his B.A. in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). During his second year at UTSA, Chris was awarded an internship with the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland–Silverhill, Maryland. This experience exposed Chris to a host of encounters and professional settings that helped mold a solid foundation for his professional life.
After graduating from UTSA Chris worked as a Cost Accountant in Denver, Colorado and Austin, Texas. He worked for both a national and a regional homebuilder performing various accounting duties. The experience of working with controllers and developers began his interest in real estate, and led Chris to pursue a law license instead of a certified public accountant license.
Chris’ enrolled at the St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, Texas in the fall of 2010. During law school Chris clerked with the Consumer Protection Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office. The position provided invaluable research and investigative experience. Assisting in proving actions brought by the Attorney General’s Office was satisfying work as Chris understands most citizens do not have advocates in their corner fighting on their behalf.
After successfully obtaining his law license Chris joined R L WILSON LAW FIRM in 2014. Having the experience of litigating matters in seven (7) counties, Chris has an appreciation of people’s resolve and staunch position of their closely held property rights. Chris has successfully mediated a variety of legal matters, including real estate contract disputes, property access disputes, non-disclosure allegations, and easements lawsuits.
Chris enjoys listening to most forms of jazz, reading literary non-fiction, vintage deeds, and historical maps. His love of historical facts and accounts is driven by understanding that it took strong families and fearless frontiersmen to create the rights and liberties we all enjoy present day.
